At the ongoing CES 2015 exhibition, Alcatel officially launched Alcatel OneTouch watches, announcing its entry into the field of smartwatches.
Overall, the main functions of this smartwatch are similar to those of current mainstream wearable devices, including activity monitoring, multimedia remote control and so on. Considering that Alcatel OneTouch has previously launched cheaper low-end phones, some media have speculated that the smartwatch will be more user-friendly, which should be less than $200. some sources say the price is $149, but it has not been officially confirmed.
Alcatel OneTouch features a classic round dial design with a stainless steel case, strap and clasp that resembles a daily watch. The watch has a built-in accelerometer through which users can view time and notification information. It is worth mentioning that the protective performance of this watch is good, up to the IP67 standard (IP67 standard refers to protection against dust inhalation and brief immersion). Bluetooth 4.0 connection is supported.
However, the band of OneTouch watches is irreplaceable, which disappoints many people, as most smartwatches support the replacement of watch bands, allowing users to customize their choices. In response, Alcatel explained that the OneTouch watch does not support the replacement of the watch strap because the OneTouch strap has a built-in NFC chip and USB port.
The battery of the watch is not big, only the 210mAh. Alcatel says the battery can last up to five days and can be recharged within an hour through the USB connector of the strap.
The 1.22-inch display is a bit narrow, but because it is a round dial and the layout of the interface is reasonable, the information on the screen does not look as crowded and cluttered as expected.
Surprisingly, the Alcatel OneTouch watch does not run the Android Wear operating system, but uses its own developed operating system, which supports functions such as information notification and heart rate monitoring. The smartwatch can be connected to both Android phones (4.3 and above) and iOS devices (iOS7 and above).
In this regard, Alcott did not release much information, except to mention that the OneTouch watch uses a ST Micro ST429 chip. The media speculated that the overall configuration of the OneTouch watch should not be high, but it can run the built-in operating system.
