Of course, TN screens are rarely used by manufacturers, and now the mainstream LCD panels mainly use VA and IPS. In addition to these two panel technologies, there are many other companies’ panels, such as PLD, ADS, etc., but they remain the same. Most other panel technologies are developed on the basis of VA and IPS, but very often in order to avoid intellectual property disputes. So you can’t just call VA or IPS panel.
In China, we see more domestic manufacturers LCD panels, probably even BOE and Huaxing Optoelectronics. Huaxing Optoelectronics most of the LCD panel uses VA screen technology, with a higher contrast, but the visual angle is general; and BOE ADS panel, in fact, like Samsung PLS, are developed on the basis of IPS panel, the technical principle is also very similar, now many televisions at home and abroad are willing to use BOE ADS panel, the cost is relatively low.
Recently, BOE officially released a new generation of LCD panel ADS Pro, which makes people a little different. When major manufacturers are developing a new generation of display technology, BOE also spends time on LCD panel technology, which is somewhat surprising. And ADS panels are usually used in some low-cost products, so what are the advantages and technical features of BOE’s ADS Pro worth paying attention to?
From the introduction of BOE, the most important feature of ADS Pro is that it has the advantages of full visual angle, colorless bias and ultra-high refresh rate. Full perspective is easy to understand, now VA and IPS are claimed to be visual angle of 178 °, but VA actually can not reach this level, IPS is not a big problem, then according to this understanding, full perspective is actually the same reason, so do not understand what there is a special promotion, after all, as long as it is not TN and VA panels, now other panels basically have a good visual angle. Of course, maybe ADS Pro has smaller changes in brightness and color than other panels from a wider point of view.
It is difficult for us to say that colorless bias, because the final factory color effect of the display equipment not only depends on the panel, the panel only gives a lower limit, and the adjustment and color calibration level of its own manufacturers also determines the final performance of the product. therefore, we are cautious about the statement of colorless bias. At present, the best OLED TV and Mini LED display equipment obviously have more picture advantages than ordinary LCD, but no one can guarantee that their colors are completely accurate, and many users need to correct colors through other hardware, so we just regard this as a slogan of BOE, and we don’t have to take it too seriously.
As for the ultra-high refresh rate, according to BOE, the highest 500Hz refresh can be achieved, including notebooks and monitors. Of course, we don’t know what kind of resolution this is based on. At present, the products of other display manufacturers use IPS panels to achieve the 360Hz refresh rate under 1080p, which requires panels, controllers, interfaces and other aspects to achieve, so we tend to BOE’s ADS Pro to achieve more than 500Hz refresh rate under 1080p, but this may require other technologies and hardware to match it.
However, BOE itself has shown a 75-inch 8K 288Hz a-Si 1G1D LCD display, which is equipped with BOE’s own Zhenping screen, super-division frequency doubling technology and ink color technology, achieving ultra-high 8K/288Hz resolution and ultra-high refresh rate. So in the part of LCD, BOE still has its technical background, but it is difficult to say when it is commercially available. In addition, the current interface specifications may not be able to meet the highest display standards of BOE ADS Pro for the time being.
It is worth mentioning that the reputation of the ADS panel is not very good in the IPS series. Hisense and Toshiba both use the ADS panel to create their own LCD televisions, but according to user feedback, the ADS panel is not so good in color, brightness and other performance, and as a derivative of the IPS panel, its contrast performance is also very poor. So in fact, we do not have to have much expectation for ADS Pro, there will certainly be manufacturers to use it in the future, but it is not true to say how high-end it is.
